Lament of the Audiophilic Necromancer by Nicholas De Marino
Sheb resists again! How many times must I rekindle and re-snuff his corporeal spark?
I scrape the archive.
Stabbed and impaled, strangled and suffocated, bludgeoned and beaten to banality. Riddled with arrow. Bullet. Plasma. Particle. All manner of matter and antimatter have agonized his anatomy. Rockslide, quicksand, whirlpool, and volcano. His corpus has been ravaged by every force imaginable — gamma and solar radiations, magnetic storms, the vacuity of space itself — yet he remains mute.
There must be a way.
I cannot, will not, rest and he will not rest until distant drums stop. Until Sheb howls a new Wilhelm Scream.
