Paige had never seen anyone check out the decrepit book that sat high on a corner shelf in Adult Nonfiction. Its cover was tattered, the imprinted lettering nearly illegible.
When she had to make room for new books, the relic was the first to go. She didn’t bother saving it for their monthly fundraising sale, tossing it into the recycling bin instead.
