Something to Declare by Liam Kerry
Mark had spent thousands on a ring, not to mention the flights to Paris. His relationship with Lucy meant everything to him.
Marching slowly towards the scanners in the airport, he thought of his investment, concealed in the pocket of his hand luggage. As the bag went through the machine, his eyes met with those of the officer checking the screen.
“Shhh,” he gestured with his finger, smiling.
Ten minutes later, in a detention room surrounded by armed guards, he revealed the ring.
“Will you marry me?” He asked through the two-way mirror, one knee resting on his travel mask.
Liam Kerry is a British thinking enthusiast with a bad memory – writing helps him recall his daydreams. An anthology of his micro-fiction will be available later in 2024.
