The Circle by Tom Baldwin
They met, dated in secret, then fell in love. Their families and their faiths would never allow them to marry, or even meet again. So, at enormous personal risk, they ran away.
Their parents would never understand why.
They renounced their beliefs, changed their names and married. In time they had a son, who they brought up to reject superstition and embrace reason.
When he was grown, he found an unexpected calling to religion. His parents disapproved, and tried their best to dissuade him, but he ran away to practise his new faith.
His parents would never understand why.
Tom Baldwin has had fiction, articles and humour published and broadcast in the UK. He now lives in New Zealand and prefers writing flash fiction, which has been published on a number of sites.
